Speer YMCA Splash Pad

Location:  St. Petersburg, Florida

Project Type: Water playground with multiple interactive water features.

Features:

The Speer YMCA is an exciting addition to the St. Petersburg community, born from a partnership between Pinellas County Schools and the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg. Located adjacent to a local middle school, this shared facility enhances the well-being of both students and the broader community by providing access to an array of shared resources. Spanning 75,000 square feet, the Speer YMCA boasts an extensive range of amenities designed to cater to diverse interests and ages. Among these facilities are a state-of-the-art fitness center, sports fields, a playground, and an aquatic center that features a competition lap pool, an instructional pool, and the highlight for many - a splash pad.

The splash pad itself is a 1,500-square-foot area of interactive water play, boasting a variety of water toys, including an Aqua Dumping Bucket, Aqua Shroom 5, Aqua Animal, Aqua Tipping Coco Palm, Aqua Cannon, Aqua Snake, and the NEW Aqua Tabletop. The variety of water features ensures that patrons of all ages and abilities can find enjoyment and refreshment during the hot months. The inclusion of an Aqua Activator allows patrons to control the activation of the splash pad with just the touch of a button.

A particular highlight within this water playground is the Aqua Tabletop. This water play table is not just a water feature; it's an interactive learning experience that allows patrons, particularly younger ones, to engage with the principles of water flow through the manipulation of spinners and gears. This water feature does more than just provide entertainment; it enhances the educational value of the splash pad, making it a place where play and learning go hand in hand.

The Speer YMCA Splashpad was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, Pinellas County Schools, Landmark Pools, and AquaWorx as the splash pad manufacturer. Through this collaboration, the Speer YMCA has become a beacon of community engagement, wellness, and education, setting a new standard for partnerships between public schools and recreational facilities.
