Tom Varn Park Splash Pad

Location: Brooksville, Florida

Project Type: Community splash pad featuring an elevated 800-Series Splash Pad Package design with additional interactive aquatic play features for enhanced play value and user experience.

Features:

Tom Varn Park has long been a cornerstone of the community in Brooksville, Florida. Established on 103 acres of land generously donated by Mrs. Vera G. Cone, the park has evolved over the years into a multi-use space for sports, recreation, and now, aquatic play.

As part of recent 2024 improvements, the City of Brooksville unveiled the park’s newest amenity, a community splash pad. Originally designed as an AquaWorx 800-series splash pad package, the city expanded the design to include additional aquatic play features, enhancing the overall play value and guest experience for families visiting the park.

The splash pad features various aquatic play features, including an Aqua Animal Two with a custom frog-themed piece, two Aqua Cannons, an exciting Aqua Buckets 6, and the colorful, interactive Aqua Twirling Gumdrop. A variety of ground sprays complete the layout, offering sensory-rich play experiences for children of all ages.

As part of the Splash Pad Package, the splash pad equipment comes standard with a recirculating filtration system, a space-efficient solution for splash pad water management that captures, filters, and recycles water to minimize water waste. The system’s equipment is housed in a secured, fenced equipment yard adjacent to the splash pad deck and is activated by an Aqua Activator, allowing guests to turn the splash pad on during park hours at their leisure.

This project was a collaborative effort between AquaWorx, the splash pad equipment manufacturer, Florida Playstructures, the installer, and the City of Brooksville. With its vibrant design and user-friendly operation, the Tom Varn Park Splash Pad reflects the city’s commitment to fostering inclusive, family-focused recreational opportunities.
